Dental Cleanings and Dentistry
Taking care of your animal's teeth is important. Since they do not generally brush their teeth every day, a lot of bacteria and tarter can build up on the surface of your dog or cat's teeth and compromise the health of those teeth and the health of the entire body.
When tarter build-up gets out of control, it can lead to problems such as gingivitis, abscesses, and periodontal disease. Oral bacterial diseases can even lead to problems with your animal's heart, kidneys, and liver.
Keeping Your Dog Healthy
To protect your dog from these potential diseases,
we recommend that you bring them in for a dental
cleaning 1-2 times per year. Your pet will be under
general anesthesia during the process, which includes
a complete oral exam, ultrasonic scaling to remove tarter,
and polishing of the teeth. To maintain good oral
hygiene at home after the dental cleaning, we recommend
brushing you animal's teeth with a toothbrush and
toothpaste designed especially for them at least 1-2 times
per week.
